All visits are conducted by video visitation provided by Securus Technologies and visitors are required to have a facility approved account with Securus.

Accounts can be set up using either the Securus Technologies website or the Secures Mobile app that can be found in both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Once your account is set up and approved you can schedule visits under the Securus Video Connect section of your account. All visits must be prescheduled.

Additional Information:

All onsite visits will be at no cost to the visitor. Visitors are limited to one onsite visit per week and must be prescheduled.
Remote visits can be scheduled at the regular cost of $5.99 plus taxes & fees. Visitors are limited to 3 remote visits per day.

  • All visits are limited to 20 minutes.
  • All onsite visits, including those for inmates housed at 1617 Reading Road (Talbert House), will be conducted via visitation terminals located in the lobby of the North Building. There is no in person face-to-face visitation.

We permit a maximum of four (4) people for onsite visits, including children. We do not limit it to two adults and two children. Visitation can be one adult with three kids, or three adults and one kid, or any combination that equals up to four people. We do require that at least one adult be present the entire duration of the onsite visit.

Hamilton County Justice Center Hours & Info:

  • On-Site – Monday-Friday from 11:00AM to 6:30PM. No On-Site visits on holidays.
  • Off-Site (Remote) – Monday-Saturday from 9:00AM to 8:40PM and Sunday from 11:00AM to 8:40PM.

Reading Road Visiting Hours & Info

  • On-Site – Monday-Friday from 5:30PM to 7:00PM. No On-Site visits on holidays.
  • Off-Site (Remote) – Monday-Friday from 5:30PM to 8:40PM. Saturday from 9:00AM to 8:40PM and Sunday 11:00AM to 8:40PM.

Visting Property/Clothing Drop-Off

  • Prescription glasses, including glasses for Reading Road and Talbert House, can be delivered to the Property Window in the South Building of the Justice Center Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., excluding holidays.
  • You must provide a valid photo ID when you drop off glasses, unopened contacts, or dentures at the Property Window.  The glasses will be searched.
  • Court clothing is accepted from 8 a.m.-10 a.m. the day before court.
  • If the court date is on Monday, you would drop off the Friday before.
  • Court clothing cannot have any strong odors or it will be refused. All property will be searched. 
  • A valid ID is required to drop off clothing, All clothing will be searched by a drug dog.


Cash and credit-card deposits may be made to an inmate’s account through a kiosk located in the lobby of the north building of the Justice Center. All deposits post immediately to the inmate’s account for use in the commissary. A fee does apply for the use of the kiosk.


Jail Services

Corrections Officers play a critical role in the custody, security, and treatment of inmates or detainees while learning and developing the interpersonal skills required to perform a range of corrections officer assignments. Working in the jail provides valuable experience, knowledge, and communication to prepare Deputies to move into various roles within the Sheriff’s Office.

Our employment process is rigorous, and we only select those few who are passionate about engaging with their community and serving those around them. Due to the significance of the sworn position, applicants must always be truthful in their application responses and during the entire certification/hiring process. Failure to be truthful during the certification/employment process may disqualify an applicant. Truthfulness and candor in this application process are important requirements for becoming a Correctional Officer.

Corrections Academy

Corrections Officers are hired into our 10-week, paid Corrections Academy, where they learn Teamwork, Inmate communication/de-escalation tactics, Teamwork, physical conditioning, defensive tactics, first aid, and laws/regulations. Students must meet the testing, attendance, and physical conditioning requirements to complete the Academy successfully. Recruits learn a sense of community and Accountability the HCSO way:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidate must have a High School Diplo9ma or GED equivalence
  • Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving history
  • Candidate must be able to pass a drug screening, medical examination by a licensed physician, and a CVSA (lie detector)
  • Candidate must be 18 years of age prior to the hire date
  • Candidate must be a U.S. citizen or Naturalization Certified
  • Candidate must have a clean criminal record, including no felony convictions
  • Candidate must not have had a DUI conviction within the past five years and no more than two in a lifetime
  • Candidate must have an Honorable Military Discharge, if applicable

Applicants may be disqualified from consideration for certification/employment as a Correctional Officer if it is determined that the applicant:

  • Was untruthful, deliberately omitted, concealed, or falsified relevant facts during the certification/employment consideration process;
  • Been convicted of a felony;
  • Committed serious employment-related crimes;
  • Sold illegal drugs;
  • Used illegal drugs within a specific period of time; OR
  • Acquired extensive debt or evidence of extreme financial negligence


Corrections Officers work 12-hour shifts: 7 am – 7 pm or 7 pm to 7 am. There is occasionally mandatory overtime in 4-hour increments. There is also a mandatory shift that is worked once every 30 days.
