Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) is a comprehensive drug and violence prevention education program in kindergarten through 12th grade. First developed in Los Angeles in 1983, the D.A.R.E. program is based upon a belief that the only way to combat drug abuse and addiction is through early education and prevention. D.A.R.E. represents a cooperative effort between local schools and law enforcement personnel and has grown to reach out to all 50 states and many countries abroad. The program has expanded to combat not only substance abuse, but violence and gangs. By giving elementary, middle school, and high school students the knowledge they need to resist these forms of crime, the D.A.R.E. program can help make a dent in the increasing crime trends of modern day society.

DAREN HAS AN APP - "DARENS DONUTS"

D.A.R.E. has it’s very first iPhone and iPad app! Our partner www.LuckyKatTV.com has created a fun new game app called DARENS DONUTS based on the old time favorite, Hangman.

It’s a great way to engage our D.A.R.E. kids and to introduce even more people to Daren! The majority of the words in the game are based on our curriculum with a few interesting animals thrown in for fun.

The introductory price of the app is only 99 cents for both the iPhone and iPad and is available right now in iTunes. Every download of the game benefits D.A.R.E. As we roll into the new school year, we’ve been told the app has the potential for becoming a Top 25 app which will raise both awareness and money for D.A.R.E.!

So be sure to tell all your students, co-workers, friends and neighbors about this fun new app that’s entertaining AND helps a great cause at the same time!
