Understanding the Inmate Information (FAQ)

What is a JMS_Number and why is it important?
This is a unique identifier for that inmate's particular "stay" while incarcerated. This is how he/she is tracked, gets mail, commissary, etc.

What is a Control Number?
This is a criminal database identifier - it tracks a person's criminal history within Hamilton County.
Other Counties have another form of identifier

What is an Active Holder?
This is an additional "hold" for another agency. The inmate is not being held by our agency on this charge.

Understanding the Charge Section Description

  • What does "Unsupported Type" mean?
    This is a charge where the section or charge code is not in our active lookup tables
  • What does "OVI" stand for?
    This is the new description for DUI meaning "operating vehicle impaired/intoxicated"

    Understanding Bond Types
    What does "Any" mean? Meaning the bond can be posted by cash, property, surety and at 10%?
    What does "UAB" mean? Meaning an "unsecured appearance bond"
    What does "SOR" mean? Meaning "supervised OR" bond
    What does "CPS" mean? I believe this is "cash/property/surety"?

    Visitors MUST adhere to the Vistor Dress Code.

    Maximum Number of Visitors: 4 (CJC) 

    Minors must be accompanied by an adult

    A valid ID is required.

    Property for CJC and QCC can be delivered to the Visiting desk, located Tues. - Fri. Noon - 7PM.  Property for Reading Rd. or Talbert House can be delivered to the Visiting desk located in the South building of the Justice Center Tues. - Fr. Noon - 7:00PM.

    • Dentures
    • Glasses (prescription only)
    • glasses case (no metal)
    • contacts w/case (no solution)
    • Bible/Qu'ran/Torah (other religious
      material must be taken to
      CJC Room 120 8AM-4PM Mon-Fri)

    Visiting will be delivered by date accepted
    or by next business day.

    MINI-PROPERTY/Inmate Accts ROOM (located in the North Bldg of the Justice Center Inmate Account Window near Room 120)
    Hours 8am-3:30pm MON - FRI

    Money can now be deposited on an inmate's account using a credit card via the Internet. Click on the provided link and follow the instructions in order to make a deposit (A processing Fee does Apply!). Deposits post immediately to the inmates's account.

    • books/magazines mailed
      from publisher or bookstore
    • colored pencils (no metal tips)
    • plain small greeting cards
    • pads of paper (no wire)
    • pictures (no sexually suggestive
      or pictures larger than 5x7)
    • prescription glasses/contacts
      w/ soft bound case
    • Bible/Qu'ran/Torah

    ANY MAIL THAT IS THOUGHT TO POSE
    A SECURITY RISK TO INMATES OR STAFF
    WILL BE RETURNED TO SENDER AT THE
    DISCRETION OF SECURITY
